​Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest
The Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs, the PA Dept. of Agriculture, and PA Apple Marketing Program jointly sponsor this popular contest.  Each County Fair winner proceeds to the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January of the coming year to compete at the state level.  Winning pies receive cash awards at both the local and state levels.

​Homemade Chocolate Cake Contest
The Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs sponsors an amateur scratch baking contest for any age.  Local winners earn cash prizes and the top entry gets the right to compete against other County Fair winners at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January of the coming year.  The state winners receive cash prizes:  1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100.

PA Preferred Junior Baking Cookies, Brownies and Bars Contest
In conjunction with the Classic Cake Contest, is a cookie, brownie, and bar baking contest for youth 8 to 18 sponsored by the Wyoming County Fair.  Winners will earn a cash prize!

​Incredible Angel Food Cake Contest
The Pennsylvania Egg Farmers and Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs jointly sponsor an Angel Food Cake Contest.  The best Angel Food Cake using PA Produced and Packaged Eggs will be awarded cash prizes and the top entry gets the right to compete at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January of the coming year.  The State Winners at the Farm Show receive cash prizes:  1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100.

​Scarecrow Contest
This unique contest was initiated in 1990 and has continued to be a popular presence that “livens” up the grounds.  The creativity and ingenuity displayed by the entries delights the fair guests as well as earning the top designer a cash prize.

​Baby Show
Children, ages 3 months through 4 years old are eligible, and prizes are awarded for each age group and gender.  There is also an award given for the best overall boy and girl.

​Fair Queen Contest
The purpose of the Fair Queen Contest is to encourage the promotion of agricultural fairs and to create better relations between youth and adults in both the rural and urban settings.  The Queen is selected based upon – among other things – poise, written and verbal communications, and her knowledge of the fair industry.  Local and state winners collect scholarship prizes.
​Junior Fair Queen Contest
This contest is for the younger ladies.  The intent is to provide a preview of the Fair Queen Contest for 12 to 15 year old potential entries of the future.  This is a local contest with no advancement to any further judging.  It will require each contestant to do a conversational interview and present a short speech.  All contestants will receive a participation gift and the winner earns a cash prize.

​Horseshoe Pitching Contest
The contest, as much as any held, is reminiscent of the agricultural roots of the County Fair.  This competition is now a permanent part of the Fair with the caliber of competitors getting better each year, and the number of pitchers is increasing with the popularity.  Your paid admission to the Fair is also your entry fee into this contest.  Registration is held at the Fairgrounds on the day of the contest.  This year’s contest will be held on Sunday and registration will be held at 12:00 pm on the day of the contest.  The contest will start promptly at 1:00 pm in the open field past the track area.  Bring your own shoes and a partner.  We will have shoes available if needed.  Any questions, you can call Eric Brown at 570-744-1032 or email at ericnrobyn@epix.net.

​Cross Country Race
The Annual Wyoming County Fair 5K  Race will be held at 6:45 pm on the opening day of the Fair.  The race will start at the center of the Fairgrounds then circle a good portion of the layout and finish along the road at the south end of the grounds.  The race is designed to kick off the Fall Cross Country season for high school and adult runners.  Registration will be held outside the main entrance starting at 5:30 pm.  Pre-registration forms are available at www.neparunner.com.  To enter this contest the entrant must complete the specific form at the time of registration for the contest and follow the stated guidelines.  There is an entry fee, which will include the admission price to the Fair for the competitor only.  Any questions, contact Ed Hetzel at 570-909-8994 or longrunner11@mac.com.
Wyoming County Fair 5K Race

​Open Archery Shoot
This year, the Wyoming County Fair will again host its annual Archery Shoot.  There will be classes for men, women and youth.  Please see the pre-registration form contained in this premium book for all the classes and details.  You may also register the day of the shoot.  For more information, contact Becki Tonge at 570-575-9598.  There is no special entry fee for this event, your admission into the Fair is your entry fee.

Kiddie Tractor Pull/Race
This competition will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Dairy Arena.  It is for boys and girls between the ages of four (4) and ten (10).  To enter, contestants should present themselves at the Dairy Arena at the time of the event.  There is no entry fee.  Pedal tractors will be furnished.  All a child had to do is show up and have fun.

Cornhole Tournament
This competition will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Claverack Tent.  Registration begins at 12:00 PM.  $40 per team, bring your own partner.  Prizes will be awarded to top teams.  For more information or to pre register, contact 673 Cornhole on Facebook or call 570-250-5148.

Kids Power Wheels Demo Derby
This competition is for children 3-10 years of age and will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM in the Claverack Tent.  All entries must present themselves at the Claverack Tent at 12:00 PM for registration and vehicle inspection.  All drivers must supply their own car and set it up according to the rules.  Class rules, additional information and parental consent form can be found by clicking the button below.
