Homemade Chocolate Cake Contest

The best Angel Food Cake using PA Produced and Packaged Eggs will be awarded cash prizes and the top entry gets the right to compete at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January of the coming year. This unique contest was initiated in 1990 and has continued to be a popular presence that “livens” up the grounds. The creativity and ingenuity displayed by the entries delights the fair guests as well as earning the top designer a cash prize.

Baby Show
Children, ages 3 months through 4 years old are eligible, and prizes are awarded for each age group and gender. There is also an award given for the best overall boy and girl.

Fair Queen Contest
The purpose of the Fair Queen Contest is to encourage the promotion of agricultural fairs and to create better relations between youth and adults in both the rural and urban settings. The Queen is selected based upon – among other things – poise, written and verbal communications, and her knowledge of the fair industry. Local and state winners collect scholarship prizes.

Junior Fair Queen Contest
This contest is for the younger ladies. The intent is to provide a preview of the Fair Queen Contest for 12 to 15 year old potential entries of the future. This is a local contest with no advancement to any further judging. It will require each contestant to do a conversational interview and present a short speech. All contestants will receive a participation gift and the winner earns a cash prize.

The contest, as much as any held, is reminiscent of the agricultural roots of the County Fair. This competition is now a permanent part of the Fair with the caliber of competitors getting better each year, and the number of pitchers is increasing with the popularity. Your paid admission to the Fair is also your entry fee into this contest. Registration is held at the Fairgrounds on the day of the contest. This year’s contest will be held on Sunday and registration will be held at 12:00 pm on the day of the contest. The contest will start promptly at 1:00 pm in the open field past the track area. The Annual Wyoming County Fair 5K Race will be held at 6:45 pm on the opening day of the Fair. The race will start at the center of the Fairgrounds then circle a good portion of the layout and finish along the road at the south end of the grounds. The race is designed to kick off the Fall Cross Country season for high school and adult runners. Registration will be held outside the main entrance starting at 5:30 pm. Pre-registration forms are available at www.neparunner.com. To enter this contest the entrant must complete the specific form at the time of registration for the contest and follow the stated guidelines. There is an entry fee, which will include the admission price to the Fair for the competitor only. Any questions, contact Ed Hetzel at 570-909-8994 or [email protected].

To enter, contestants should present themselves at the Dairy Arena at the time of the event. There is no entry fee. Pedal tractors will be furnished. All a child had to do is show up and have fun.
